Who Should Take CBD?

Asé Pure Naturals’ guide to CBD use and who can benefit most.

CBD has taken fitness and wellness communities by storm, especially since the 2018
Agriculture Improvement Act, also known as the Farm Bill, was signed by then President Donald
Trump. The bill removed some of the regulations that made it hard for CBD manufacturers to
get CBD products into the hands of desperate consumers who need the aid of CBD products
for a fuller and satisfying life. Because for some people, CBD can make all the difference.
But, who should take CBD? Are the CBD health benefits for everyone, or should some people steer clear?
Today, we’re going to talk about who should and shouldn’t take CBD products, and why.

Key Points

  • What are the CBD health benefits everyone is talking about?
  • Who should take CBD?
  • Is CBD right for me?

What Are the CBD Health Benefits?
CBD products work for a few reasons:

1. They work within your body’s own endocannabinoid system, mimicking the
endocannabinoids your body naturally makes to help your bodily systems to operate
more efficiently.
2. CBD products contain a blend of phytocannabinoids (cannabinoids from plants) derived
from the Cannabis sativa hemp plant.
3. Most people are able to take CBD products and reap the CBD health benefits offered by
them.

But are there people who should not take CBD products? Today, we’ll answer your questions
about whom should and who should not take CBD products for improved health and wellness.
For most people CBD products can help to support a greater sense of calm. They can help
many users to maintain a healthier and more stable sleep cycle. Some users report more clear
thinking, or more stable moods, or a general “feeling better.” While each of us has our own
biological system (the endocannabinoid system) which helps our body to process its own
natural endocannabinoids, and the phytocannabinoids from CBD products, CBD does affect all
of us uniquely. There’s no way to know how, exactly, CBD will affect you until you take the time
to try CBD and work to find that perfect serving size that delivers the CBD health benefits most
helpful to you. This can take a bit of trial and error but for most people it is worth the time it
takes to sort this out.

Who Should Take CBD Products?

To begin, there is an age stipulation for taking CBD products. This is why for most CBD product
websites you will have to click that you are “over 18” in order to proceed with your shopping.
There are a few reasons for this. One: CBD products are recommended only for adults over the
age of 18. TWO: The reason for this is largely based on the lack of research on CBD use for
people under the age of 18. This may change as CBD research becomes wider and we
can see through that research the benefits and results. Until then, we recommend CBD
products only for adults over the age of 18.

Are there health considerations before taking CBD products?

This question is a little more difficult to answer and because we are not medical professionals and cannot answer that for
you, specifically. We advise that you bring this up in conversation with your own medical doctor
who:

  • Knows your health condition and whether or not CBD may be right for you.
  • Knows what medications and supplements you are taking.

CBD use does have some initial effects that could be unpleasant. Most can be minimized by starting on low serving sizes, analyzing your body’s response, and waiting for a month before raising the serving sizes so that your body can have some time to adjust. Most of this is more associated with the carrier oils than it is with the actual CBD content.

  • Dry mouth
  • Mild nausea
  • Drowsiness or sleepiness
  • Shifts in mood or concentration

Is CBD Right for Your Life?

CBD products have a very wide application. From athletes to grandmothers, to the high-strung and the nocturnal folks who can never seem to get a good night’s sleep, to those of us who are wellness-focused and want to live our best lives – there’s a CBD product for each of us.

There are a few things to consider, once you have the go-ahead from your doctor. First, are you wanting an overall “feel better” experience? Second, do you think you need to get better sleep? After all, poor sleep habits are the “root of all evil” for many health and wellness concerns. Improving your sleep can improve your overall health in a myriad of ways.

Also, are you an athlete who wants to improve recovery time, lessen muscle soreness after workouts, or ensure that your body is performing its best each and every time you strap on those gym shoes? Or are you just a regular person with a regular and fairly uninteresting life – but you know there’s more out there for you? You’ve made your lists of self-improvements you want to make and are looking for an overall wellness support plan?

There are many reasons why you may consider CBD products and all of them are supportive. CBD helps to support you from the inside out while you work to improve your habits, make better choices for your body, your lifestyle, and even your relationships. When you aim to improve your life, and you want your body and mind to feel their best – this is when CBD products enter the conversation. It’s a support system for your overall wellness, and one that makes a difference for a great many users.

NCBI did a cross-sectional study with recruited participants from social media. And while we tend to stay away from any kind of medical claims about CBD use (until the research is wide and solid to back up any such claims) we cannot deny that what people are saying about their own CBD use is compelling. Take a look at some of the findings of this NCBI study:

Results: Almost 62% of CBD users reported using CBD to treat a medical condition. The top three medical conditions were pain, anxiety, and depression. Almost 36% of respondents reported that CBD treats their medical condition(s) “very well by itself,” while only 4.3% reported “not very well.” One out of every three users reported a nonserious adverse effect.

Conclusion: Consumers are using CBD as a specific therapy for multiple diverse medical conditions—particularly pain, anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders. These data provide a compelling rationale for further research to better understand the therapeutic potential of CBD.”

Because the FDA is slow to approve cannabis products, and because even decades of research is still in its infancy, and because anecdotal evidence is overwhelming and supportive, this creates quite a paradox for CBD companies: we simply cannot make any bold claims, especially medical ones or ones that suggest CBD can treat any kind of illness or disease or speak to the efficacy of CBD products.

So now what? We do know what users report. We hear your stories about lives being changed in positive ways. We know that CBD is improving the lives of so many people.

Basically, we operate with the information we have, we speak to our doctors – who are more frequently supportive of CBD use – and we press for more research to be done on CBD and its therapeutic effects in different circumstances and for a wider demographic.

Types of CBD Products

  • Full spectrum CBD formulas: contains less than .3% of THC as required by law.
  • Broad spectrum CBD formulas: may contain trace amounts of THC but this is not intended. THC is NOT selected for the formulation but very, very minute and virtually undetectable amounts may be present due to the extraction process.

Formulations come in various types so that you can take what works best for your own lifestyle and preferences: CBD tinctures are drops that you take each day with a dropper, CBD softgels are capsules you take with a glass of water, and CBD roll ons are topical formulas to roll onto the affected area for targeted relief right where you need it.

Key Takeaways for Today

The main thing to remember about CBD is that it is a great option for almost anyone over the age of 18 unless for some reason your doctor explicitly feels you should not take it. Otherwise, CBD health benefits are largely rooted in three categories: improved general feeling of wellness, improved sleep, and an improved mood/sense of calm. For some people there are many other benefits, more specific ones, but until research catches up to those conversations, we have to be careful as a reputable CBD company to make any such claims. Overall, there is a strong forward momentum for CBD use, and we hope that pushes for more research to be done.
