Simple Ways To Incorporate Wellness Into Your Workday

Many of us got used to the comfort of being able to work from home some or most days during the height of the pandemic. So, it may be a jarring adjustment to have to go back to the office after months of working on your cozy couch in your pajamas while snuggling your pets. We’ve all heard of the Sunday scaries, that feeling of anxiety and dread as a new workweek is approaching. We can banish these negative feelings by adopting a few healthy habits while at the office. Here are 3 easy ways to recharge at work.

  1. Get outside

On average, Americans spend 75% of their time at the office seated. And that doesn’t even factor in the commute to and from work. Prolonged sitting has been touted to be more harmful to our health than smoking cigarettes! It’s been linked to chronic back pain, anxiety, weight gain, depression, heart disease, and more. Stepping out for some fresh air and vitamin D will not only boost your energy-level, but will also help you focus when you plop back down in front of your screen.

  1. Relocate for your lunch break

Do you eat in front of your computer most workdays? Not only is this an inevitable way to get crumbs on your keyboard, but it’s also detrimental to your mental health. Nourishing our bodies is crucial for brain function and fighting fatigue. But, if we are chowing with one hand on our mouse scrolling through emails we are not practicing mindfulness and this can lead to digestive issues and a lack of feeling satiated. Food should be enjoyed and savored slowly, so next time you grab that sandwich or salad from the office fridge, take it to a breakroom, a common area or the local park if you have access to one…basically anywhere other than in front of your PC or Mac. Click here for some easy, brain-boosting recipes to meal-prep for your next midday meal. And don’t forget to hydrate! Bring a reusable water bottle to work and refill it at least twice a day. This is also a surefire way to make sure you get up from your chair at least a few times.

  1. Make your space a sanctuary

Since we are often obligated to spend the majority of our workday in our office or cubicle, why not give it some warmth and personality? Buy a small diffuser with your favorite aromatherapy oil like lavender for calming, or peppermint for energizing. Place a live plant or two on your desk to bring the outdoors in. Frame a picture from the most beautiful place you’ve ever visited and keep it within your view to enjoy throughout the day. Stash some healthy snacks in your desk drawers for when you need a little extra nourishment.

These are just a few tips for infusing wellness into your workday and once you put them into practice they will undoubtedly help you feel less stressed and be more productive. Here at Asé Pure Naturals, we’re big believers in CBD as a holistic stress remedy.
